Corryong Heavy Vehicle Bypass
We're taking heavy vehicles off Hanson Street by creating a Heavy Vehicle Bypass along the Stock Route in Corryong.
The upgrade of the Heavy Vehicle Bypass will include sealing the road and making it suitable for large B-Double trucks, including the removal of tight bends. The upgrade will allow trucks to use the alternative route rather than the main street, which is considered a safety concern.
Community members, including agriculture and business representatives and truck drivers, have been consulted on the preferred route of the project.
Council have secured funding through the Australian Government’ Bridges Renewal Program and Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program for the realignment of Corryong’s heavy vehicle bypass along the Heavy Vehicle Bypass.
The final plans are available below.
Following the upgrade of Hanson Street Corryong, which included the installation of two roundabouts, there has been a strong community push combined with advocacy efforts from Council to secure funding to upgrade the existing Corryong Heavy Vehicle Bypass.
The current Heavy Vehicle Bypass is unsealed and positioned on the outskirts of town, on the Mount Mittamatite side of Hanson Street.
