Native vegetation
Native vegetation is referred to in Clause 52.17 of the Towong Planning Scheme.
When a planning permit is required
You'll need a permit to remove, destroy or lop native vegetation, including standing dead native vegetation.
Some exemption exist in certain circumstances, please check with out planning team before you remove any native vegetation:
- if the table to Clause 52.17-7 specifically states that a permit is not required
- to the removal, destruction or lopping of native vegetation specified in the schedule to this clause
- to an area specified in the schedule to this clause.
Supporting documents
When making a planning permit application for the removal, destruction or loping of native vegetation you will need to submit the following:
- A recently obtained (within the last 3 months) copy of the certificate of title together with the title plan and a copy of any restrictions, covenants or Section 173 Agreements that may be held on title. This can be obtained from Landata
- A Native Vegetation Removal report prepared in accordance with the NVR Applicants Guide (Department of Energy Environment and Climate Action June 2023) Native vegetation removal regulations (environment.vic.gov.au) . The NVR Map tool is used to assist in preparing an application NVR Map (mapshare.vic.gov.au)
- Detail of the method of offset or other arrangement to make good the removal.
