Council Invites Community Input for Township Structure Plans
Towong Shire Council is calling on residents to participate in shaping the future of Bellbridge, Corryong, and Tallangatta through the development of Township Structure Plans. Based on the Our Towns initiative, the structure plans aim to harness community ideas and preferences to guide future land use planning and development in the three towns
Mayor Andrew Whitehead emphasised the importance of community involvement.
"We want the community to be actively involved in the planning process. Your input will be instrumental in shaping how these areas grow, including where houses go, where roads are laid out, and where parks and businesses are located,” he said.
"This is a great opportunity for residents to have a direct impact on the future development of their towns. Your ideas and feedback will shape the Township Structure Plans, ensuring they reflect the aspirations and needs of our community."
Led by strategic planning experts Tomkinson and Council's Planning team, the development of these plans will involve extensive community engagement. Residents are encouraged to share their thought on land use for their towns, including ideas on housing, infrastructure, and green spaces.
To facilitate community engagement, drop-in sessions will be held in each town, providing residents with the opportunity to express their views and preferences. To allow for meaningful discussions and feedback the sessions will be structured into 30 minute slots. You can select the time that suits you best as part of your registration process.
