Work Commencing on 24-Hour Aviation Fuel Facility at Corryong Airport

Installation of a self-serve 24-hour aviation fuel facility at Corryong Airport will commence soon.

Construction of the fuel storage tankers has been completed and installation is scheduled to commence in early September and be ready for use by October. During the installation process there will be some limitations to access.

The facility will consist of two above-ground fuel tanks, each 12,000 litres – one for piston engines and one for turbine engines. Both tanks will be double-walled for safer storage and will be complete with tanker unloading and aviation bowser fuelling facilities. Swipe credit card payment capability will be installed for reliable and efficient access.

The fuel facility will provide access to the Upper Murray for air ambulance services and seasonal bushfire emergency services. The facility will also service all types of non-emergency aircraft.

“This fuel service will improve the effectiveness and reliability of medical and bushfire emergency services for the Upper Murray,” Mayor Andrew Whitehead said.

“The fuel service will also supply non-emergency aircraft, thus attracting commercial operators and permanent airport tenants who recognise the huge potential of the Upper Murray market.”
