Draft plans for Corryong CBD Streetscape Project on display
In 2021, Towong Shire Council asked the community what upgrades they would like to see in the Corryong CBD. Council has now received funding for the project through the Victorian Government's Regional Infrastructure Fund and has developed draft plans which are now on display for community feedback.
The plans are for Hanson Street between Jardine and Donaldson Street and include:
- Two options for carparking - angled only or a combination of angled and parallel
- A safer bike lane adjacent to the footpath
- New footpaths
- Landscaping
- New street lighting
- Signage
- Outdoor seating areas
- A pedestrian crossing leading to the Man from Snowy River Arcade
The Man from Snowy River Arcade will also benefit from upgrades with a new amenities block, shade sails over existing seating areas, a shade structure over the existing carpark incorporating solar panels and an e-vehicle charging station.
Towong Shire Council Mayor Andrew Whitehead said the draft plans for Corryong CBD have been developed based on community input and feedback captured during consultation in 2021.
“The draft plans are focused around improving accessibility and amenity in the central business district, ensuring safety of the community and visitors and encouraging sustainability and liveability.
“In developing the draft plans for the Corryong CBD we have taken into consideration input received from community members and now we are keen to receive feedback on the draft plans,” he said.
The draft plans are now on display on Council’s website at towong.vic.gov.au, or you can request a copy by contacting Council on 1300 365 222 or info@towong.vic.gov.au.
