Have your say on the Towong Shire Municipal Recovery Plan
In December 2020, Towong Shire Council adopted the Municipal Recovery Plan 2019- 2020 - Upper Murray Bushfires. It is now time to review the plan to ensure that it continues to reflect community priorities.
The plan is designed to create a coordinated and well-managed recovery with community at its core. While the disaster is a tragic event and impacts the whole community, it presents an opportunity for strengthening and renewal.
The development of the plan was guided by Part 4 of the Emergency Management Manual Victoria, the Natural Principles for Disaster Recovery, the Eastern Victorian Fires 2019-20 State Recovery Plan and the Bushfire Recovery Victoria Recovery Framework. Alignment of these frameworks ensures a consistent approach to recovery, and the clear targeting of funding opportunities and support offered by all levels of Government.
Council will continue to work in partnership with both Commonwealth and State Governments and agencies, such as Bushfire Recovery Victoria, as well as other community and private sector organisations to deliver clear community outcomes.
Towong Shire Council is committed to working alongside the community in its recovery journey and is now asking for your feedback on the plan.
Council’s Mayor David Wortmann encouraged community members to have their say to ensure their views and priorities are captured.
“Successful recovery works best when it is led by the community. We want to hear from those on the ground who are living with the ongoing impacts of the fires dayto-day.
“It’s really important that we have a well-rounded view of what the community at large wants to see on our continued recovery journey” he said.
