Tallangatta has their say at Community Workshop with Council
On Wednesday 12 May, Tallangatta community members shared their ideas and aspirations for the future of Towong Shire at a Community Workshop hosted by Towong Shire Council.
Feedback received from Community Workshops across the Shire will form the basis of a new Community Vision and 4-year Council Plan, outlining the Council’s major priorities for the new Council term.
The Tallangatta workshop was attended by Towong Shire Council CEO Juliana Phelps, Mayor David Wortmann, Director of Community and Planning Amanda Pagan, along with 20 members of the community.
Hosted by an independent facilitator, the hands-on session proved to be very productive and insightful for both Council staff and community members.
Key themes discussed included enhanced promotion of tourism offerings, improved infrastructure and services for health and wellbeing, ongoing support for new and existing businesses and telecommunications improvements.
Mayor David Wortmann thanked the community members who made the time to come along and voice their ideas for the future of Towong Shire.
“It was great to see the session attended by such passionate and engaged Tallangatta community members.”
“We heard what’s important to the community and how to overcome some of the challenges faced, not only by the Tallangatta community but the Shire more broadly,” he said.
Community Workshops have also been held in Corryong, Bellbridge, Mitta Mitta and Walwa over the last two weeks.
The draft Council Plan 2021-2025 will be released for community feedback in September 2021.
