Council Statement – IDAHOBIT Day

We’re proud to be celebrating IDAHOBIT Day, standing together with our community as we raise the rainbow flag. This is a small step in our long-term commitment in supporting our LGBTQIA+ community.

Recently, Council conducted an LGBTQIA+ Inclusion and Wellbeing Consultation Report, shedding light on the historical and ongoing challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in our Shire. In response, we are dedicated to fostering a more inclusive community where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and respected.

Council understands the importance of advocating for a culture of acceptance, solidarity, and respect. By flying the Pride Flag this IDAHOBIT Day, we affirm our support for the rights and safety of all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. This gesture represents our commitment to building a diverse and inclusive community that rejects discrimination and embraces diversity.
