ANZAC Exhibition Official Launch at Towong Shire Libraries

Towong Shire libraries in Corryong and Tallangatta will be showcasing a collection of local war heroes assembled by Year 6 students, as part of an ANZAC Day research project.

For ANZAC Day 2024, Towong Shire libraries organised a special research project involving Year 6 students from local schools. Using digitised service records from the National Archives of Australia, students created informative posters detailing the service history of individuals listed on their town's war memorials, transforming them into vivid representations of local heroes who fought for our freedom.

Approximately 80 posters will be on display at both the Corryong Elyne Mitchell Library and the Tallangatta Integrated Community Centre (library) from 23 April to 4 May.

Mayor Andrew Whitehead expressed his appreciation for the initiative.

Mayor Whitehead will officially open the exhibition at both locations in the presence of some of the participating schools.
