A Strategic Plan for Agriculture in Towong Shire
Our draft Strategic Plan for Agriculture is now available for viewing and feedback.
Following the initial release of the draft plan and review by stakeholders, industry representatives and community members, we are pleased to release the final draft plan.
The plan sets out the ambitions of the Towong Shire agricultural community and provides a framework for advocacy and priority actions for Council for the next five years.
Towong Shire Council Mayor Andrew Whitehead encouraged all Towong Shire residents to share their views on the final draft plan.
“Agriculture is richly entwined throughout the Towong Shire communities and underpins the municipality's largest proportion of jobs and economic output.”
“To ensure the Towong Shire’s agriculture industry remains vibrant and supported, it’s important that we identify further opportunities and strategies to sustain and grow this sector.”
“This plan identifies opportunities for greater diversification and prosperity across the agricultural community, with a move to a stronger, more profitable and more resilient agriculture industry for generations to come.”
“My fellow Councillors and I invite you to take a look at the draft plan and provide your feedback,” he said.
