Council releases its Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025
The Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025 was adopted at the Council Meeting on 24 November 2021.
The plan outlines Council’s approach to managing dogs and cats across the Shire. Council’s role includes promoting responsible pet ownership and enforcing relevant legislation, while balancing the needs of pet owners with safety and amenity for the whole community.
Mayor Andrew Whitehead said Council recognises the valuable contribution that pets make to the vibrancy of the Shire.
“Domestic pets are often loved companions and family members, and can also play an important role for the whole community. They can help to get people out and about, and they can be a great icebreaker, bringing people together.”
“It's important that we balance the needs of pet owners with those in our community who do not own pets, to ensure our Shire can be enjoyed by all,” he said.
