Council’s draft Domestic Animal Management Plan on public exhibition
Council’s draft Domestic Animal Management Plan on public exhibition Towong Shire Council has developed a draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025 which is now on public exhibition for community feedback.
Council recognises the valuable contribution that pets make to the vibrancy and liveability of the Shire. Domestic pets may be a valued companion and family member and are often also an integral part of the wider community. Pet ownership is positively associated with social interactions, community involvement and physical and mental health.
Within Victoria, councils are responsible for domestic animal management and the plan supports Council in its role to promote responsible pet ownership and enforce legislation, while balancing the needs of pet owners with safety and amenity considerations.
Mayor Cr David Wortmann encouraged all Towong Shire residents to share their views on the draft plan.
“My fellow Councillors and I invite you to take a look at the draft plan and provide your feedback, whether you own an animal or not. All feedback will be considered before the plan is finalised and formally adopted.”
The plan is available to view on Council’s website at towong.vic.gov.au, or you can request a copy by contacting Council’s Customer Service Team on 1300 365 222 or info@towong.vic.gov.au.
