Have your say on the future of sport and recreation in Towong Shire
Towong Shire Council is developing a Sport and Recreation Strategy. The strategy will guide Council’s decision making on the development and maintenance of sport, recreation and physical activity infrastructure and initiatives over the next 10 years.
It will examine and assess ways that Council can positively influence greater participation in sport and active recreation as well as identifying opportunities for infrastructure development.
Towong Shire Council Mayor David Wortmann said Council is keen to hear from the local community to help shape the strategy.
“We want to hear from our community to understand what sport and recreation activities are important to you, and how our facilities could be improved,” he said.
“We know that access to accessible and inclusive sport and active recreation opportunities not only help our communities improve their health and wellbeing but are a fantastic way to develop social connections with others in the community.”
Council will work with communityvibe, a sport, recreation and community planning agency from regional Victoria, to deliver the strategy. To ensure we know what needs to happen to help you be more active, a range of community consultation activities with sporting associations, clubs and members and the local community will be available.
