About the opportunity
The Manager Community Wellbeing will lead the development and delivery of Towong Shire Council’s community wellbeing and economic development functions with responsibility for social inclusion, recreation, culture, economic and tourism development. Building and enhancing networks and relationships with government departments, agencies and service providers to improve social and economic outcomes for our communities is key to the success of this role.
What you can expect
- Lead the development and delivery of Council’s community development functions including: social inclusion, recreation, culture and libraries ensuring they build social connectedness and foster health and wellbeing.
- Lead the development of Council’s economic development functions including agricultural and tourism development, strategic infrastructure investment and business stimulation
- Establish, maintain, and enhance networks, working relationships and contacts with local and regional government departments, agencies and service providers
- Develop and manage contracts, service agreements, funding applications and agreements for the delivery of community and economic development
- Inspire, lead and motivate the Community and Wellbeing team, fostering a supportive and inclusive culture
What you’ll need to be successful
- Experience working in a leadership role in the community, economic development or tourism sector.
- Strong leadership, customer service and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of, or experience in working with small communities
- Sound understanding of financial and risk Management and OH&S
- Ability to travel during work hours throughout Towong Shire (pool car available)
