Tourism North East

Tourism North East (TNE) is recognised as the peak regional tourism body covering Victoria’s High Country which includes Towong Shire. TNE took over this role on July 1, 2011 from the North East Victoria Tourism Board. Financial stakeholders of TNE include the six councils in the region, the alpine resorts, Tourism Victoria and Parks Victoria.

TNE offers a range of marketing and promotional opportunities for tourism businesses to participate in so that marketing efforts can be pooled to create a bigger impact. To find out how you can participate, contact Council’s Manager Economic Development on (02) 6071 5100.

Tourism North East was established to:

  1. Act as the peak Regional Tourism Board for North East Victoria focusing on the development and growth of the region’s tourism industry, strategic tourism development and advocacy;
  2. Consolidate the strategic direction of the tourism industry for North East Victoria and communicate with key partners such as Local Government, Tourism Victoria, the Alpine Resorts and other relevant tourism industry stakeholders; and
  3. To perform the following functions for North East Victoria: tourism industry and product development, regional marketing, strong advocacy and a united voice for the region, effective coordination and communication, skills training, leadership and mentoring, networking, identifying investment/infrastructure opportunities and managing tourism sustainability.
